1000 LONDONERS MOVIE NIGHTS PRESENTS: LONDON MOVES ME
Fresh from beating the BBC and Bodyform to win the Imagery of the Year award at the 2017 #BeAGameChanger Awards, 1000 Londoners has teamed up with London Sport to produce a series of new short films about Londoners striving to be more physically active.
This inspiring, diverse and empowering set of original documentaries will take you on a tour of active London, from Waltham Forest to Thornton Heath, Newham to Hammersmith.
You’ll hear the stories of 84 year old Brenda who keeps active with darts and chair-based dancing and Paul, who began training disabled young people after his son lost his sight. You’ll meet the tenacious Londoners who train on Tower Bridge and the steps of City Hall at the crack of dawn, and the sixty-something Wendy who discovered t’ai chi after a life of avoiding sport, and Rachelle who loves playing basketball, despite her parent’s disapproval. Then there’s the world’s greatest hula-hooper, a roller-derby player, an 8-year old tennis champion, a legendary Paralympian and more. These are just a few of the 1 million people that London Sport is working to get moving to make London the world’s #MostActiveCity.
As an additional treat, the experts at London’s Screen Archives have created brand new montages for the event that lift the lid on London’s sporting history.London Moves Me will be screening at the Ritzy Cinema (Brixton) on 12 September at 7pm and at the Hackney Attic (Hackney Picturehouse) on 28 September at 7pm. Both screenings are just a fiver.
